Vishal tops ?Khayal? recital contest
TALENTED SINGER Vivek Vishal has added yet another feather to his cap. This young artiste has managed to grab the first position in the music competition organised by Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi in the category of Hindustani vocal, Khayal.
TALENTED SINGER Vivek Vishal has added yet another feather to his cap. This young artiste has managed to grab the first position in the music competition organised by Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi in the category of Hindustani vocal, Khayal.
He achieved the position this year after he competed for two years in 2004 and 2005 in which he stood third and second respectively.
Vivek has already completed his Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samiti here and he is a merit holder in it. He has also obtained 'Sangeet Alankar' from Chandigarh Kala Kendra. At present, he is the final year student in Bhatkhande School of Music, Lucknow from where he is doing 'Nipun'. He is also doing Praveen from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.
Vivek is learning music under the tutelage of his guru Pt Prem Kumar Mallik who hails from Darbhanga Gharana. "I learnt the nuances of singing from my mother Shanti Devi when I was just ten years old. The inherent interest in music is on account of my relatives from maternal side," he said.
Vivek has competed in several competitions and has stood first in most of them such as Inter-school DAV Millenium Cultural Fest (2000), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Fest (2003), 46th All India Music Competition of Prayag Sangeet Samiti (2003), 47th All India Music Competition (2004), UP Sangeet Natak Akademi-Regional Competition, Megh Mahotsav and others.
However, he tasted success for the first time when he won first prize in All India Music Competition for Ranchi Zone. Vivek is also a good painter and has done the course of fashion designing from Ruchi's Institute and the Textile Designing course from UPRTOU. This multi-talented youth wants to make his career in Khayal gayaki.
