Delhi’s brazenly loud taste and show-off habits are nothing new. But the fact has now been acknowledged internationally. At least, that’s what John J. Vergotti, President, Bovet Fleurier SA, made us believe at the launch of the watch in the city. Asked why he chose Delhi for the India launch, he said: “The city has a higher demanding attitude.”

Fardeen Khan, flown in especially for the launch — and not keen on talking about his films — let us in on his attitude towards spending money. “I am a spender, yes. But I am not a waster. I always buy the best,” he declared.

And what bests does he roll out the moolah on? “Everything… clothes, watches, cars, DVDs… everything.” As a prompt afterthought, he went on to add: “And yeah, my mother – she is the one I spend most of my money on.”

Fardeen was presented with one Bovet watch (“I have the option of picking up any model incase I don’t like this one,” he said), the others present didn’t quite make up their mind on which model to pick.

A Ganesha model, worth a whopping 21 lakh, created especially for the Indian clientele has apparently been picked up by a famous Delhi name already though. We ask Vergotti who it was and all he said was: “Some one from Delhi asked us specifically to make it. It’s been bought already. I can’t tell you by whom.” Keep guessing!
