A youth was burnt alive while six buildings were gutted when a fire broke out in a house in Poonch district on early Monday.

The fire was triggered by a burning candle left unattended in the house of one Sanjeev in Jallia Mohalla, police said.

The fire quickly spread to adjoining houses and shops, they said, adding fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought it under control.

Sanjeev was burnt alive in the fire while the inmates of other nearby houses were rescued.
