YSR launched several beneficial schemes in East Godavari

Keeping with the customary practice of launching populist schemes across Andhra Pradesh in person, late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy visited East Godavari district several times after assuming office to announce various development and welfare programmes.

Keeping with the customary practice of launching populist schemes across Andhra Pradesh in person, late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy visited East Godavari district several times after assuming office to announce various development and welfare programmes.

Reddy launched various populist schemes including the ‘Pavala Vaddi´, ‘Atavi Bhoomi Pattala Pampini´ and Indiramma housing schemes in Angara and Rampachodavaram areas of the district, which he visited over 30 times between 2004-2009, a release said here.

He inaugurated the ‘Rajiv Gruhakalpa Housing Colony´ in Rajahmundry on September 1, 2007 and visited Jaggempeta on March 14, 2008 for the opening of Polavaram Lift Irrigation (PLI) project and usually chose this district to open welfare programmes, which were later implement in other parts of the state, it said.

The former CM also inaugurated the prestigious STPI-Kakinada incubation facility on February 3, 2007.

With an aim to educate and provide education to all in the state irrespective of status, he laid the foundation stone for Nannaya Universtiy in Rajahmundry on February 28, 2009.

District Sports Authority (DSA) Olympic Bhavan foundation stone was also laid by him at Kakinada to encourage sportsmanship from village level and bring more sportsmen from grass root levels, the release added.
