The incident occurred near Chegaon Makhan villager on Indore-Icchapur state highway on Sunday around 11 am, about 125 kilometre south-west of Indore district headquarters.
The deceased were identified as Kamla (60) and Prof Nitin (40), the wife and son of one Prakash respectively, Smita (35) and Nikki (12), wife and daughter of Nitin, Vibhusha (7), son of Vipul, Prakash (65), son of Mohan, all residents of Bhusawal, Pooja (35), wife of one Sachin, Pune and jeep driver Vinesh (40), son of Samdhan from Muktai Nagar, Aidalabad, Maharashtra.
Seven other passengers who sustained critically injuries were admitted to Khandwa district hospital, while doctors referred five patients to Jalgaon as their condition was stated to be critical.
According to information, the accident took place when the jeep bearing the registration number MH 19/AE 2485, carrying over 15 members of the family was going from Bhusawal to Omkareshwar, collided head-on with a truck (MP 09/HG 7402) near Roshiya Fata, Chegaon Makhan village. Khandwa superintendent of police, Manoj Kumar Sharma confirmed the incident.
