The civic body elections will be held in two phases in the months of November and December, said state election commissioner R Parshuram, while addressing media persons.
Parshuram on his visit to Indore on Tuesday said that municipal corporation elections would be followed by panchayat polls in January 2015 in three phases.
In Indore, municipal corporation and council elections will be held in the month of November, while panchayat elections will be taken place in two phases in the month of January next year. For the first time, the elections would be held through EVMs, which will have NOTA button.
While addressing media persons after holding a review meeting to oversee the preparation in the division, SEC Parshuram said that for the first time in the state, the civic body elections would be held through EVMs.
Only the election for the panchayats would be held through paper ballots. He said that the preparations for the elections have begun. There will be photo bearing electoral rolls, which would be prepared after the publication of final report of delimitation.
Parshuram also expressed satisfaction on the preparation of Indore division administration. He further said that the EVMs for civic body elections would be used for the first time, an intensive awareness drive would be launched across the division to make voters, especially at the colleges and hostels on the use of new electronic voting machines.
