After the death of Narayan Umresa, 85, on Sunday morning, his family members decided to take out a funeral procession through the village.

Dayaram, son of Narayan, said some villagers from the upper caste came to their house and told them that they would not allow the funeral procession to pass through the village.

“Fearing untoward incident during the procession, we informed the Garoth police and got police cover for the procession and cremation,” said Dayaram.

“We reached the spot and helped the family members cremate the body peacefully,” said Garoth police station incharge RS Jatav. Ram Singh, Sajjan Singh, Antar Singh, Yuvraj Singh and Indar Singh are the people booked under Section 151 of CRPC.
