The protest against the education department direction to teachers asking them to download 'e-attendance', an android application, for their attendance, is becoming louder.
On Friday, teachers drawn from different far off villages assembled in Indore and staged a dharna to protest the order and warned of bigger agitation if such orders are not withdrawn immediately.
The android application has global positioning system (GPS) to determine the teacher’s location.
Government school teachers, earlier in the week, had moved court against district education officer (DEO) Kishore Shinde’s order.
In the order, the DEO has ask the teachers from class first to 12th to download the application in their mobile phones and asked the respective aschool principals to register the teacher’s details including teacher’s name, post, posting school, mobile number etc. All the information would be collected at the Sankul-level and handed over to Sankul principal and block resource coordinator (BRC).
A delegation of teachers handed over a seven-point memorandum to chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan through Indore collector and demanded that if the administration agrees to pay the monthly rental of internet and smart phone, they are ready to accept the order.
The teachers wondered that how will the department cope in case of network problems, which most often is the case.
