Counters selling designer earthen lamps, multi-hued lights, fire crackers, fresh and artificial flowers, chocolates, and toys attract most shoppers though it remains to be seen whether all the footfalls would translate into sale.

With two days left for five-day Diwali festival to begin — people in a bid to avoid last minute rush — thronged city bazaars till Saturday late night. The shopping spree will continue till Tuesday which is Dhanteras.

Among the five-day festivities, Dhanteras is considered most auspicious day for making purchases. The heavily-lit Rajwada area, which is city's business hub, will remain chock-o-block with people.
