Indore: Not wearing helmet may cost you driving licence

Wearing of helmets has been made compulsory in Indore from November 1, and the traffic police have decided that if a driver is fined thrice for not wearing helmets, they are going to write to the regional transport authority to suspend or cancel the license of the driver.

Wearing of helmets has been made compulsory in the city from November 1, and the traffic police have decided that if a driver is fined thrice for not wearing helmets, they are going to write to the regional transport authority to suspend or cancel the license of the driver.

Officials said that even though they are not going all out to enforce the helmet rule, in the last three months 65,000 two-wheeler drivers have been caught not wearing helmets.

Officials said that so far they have entered the data of 20,000 persons who have been fined and work of entering details of all those fined is going on.

“If we find that a person is fined thrice, we will write of the RTO to suspend or cancel their licenses,” a traffic official said.
