Indore: Two killed, one hurt in truck-bike collision

Two people were killed and one injured in Manpur area when an inspector of regional transport office allegedly fired at a truck which did not stop on being asked to do so.

Two people were killed and one injured in Manpur area when an inspector of regional transport office (RTO) allegedly fired at a truck which did not stop on being asked to do so. The truck then rammed into a bike and two people, including a woman, were killed on the spot.

However, police denied reports of the inspector firing at the truck and said they are investigating the angle. "As per preliminary investigation, the truck was stopped and the bike, which was coming from behind, rammed into it and resulted in the deaths. However, we have been informed about firing by the inspector and police are investigating that angle also," said SDOP Mhow, Arun Kumar Mishra.

The deceased have been identified as Gulab Singh (30), a resident of Rajendra Nagar and Sangeeta, a resident of Nanda Nagar in Indore. Also, Bhupendra (19) was injured in the accident. All three were relatives and were travelling on the same bike.

The incident occurred in Rampuriya area of Manpur at 10.30am when inspector Dashrath Patel was standing on the roadside for checking vehicles.

Patel was standing along with some other RTO employees when he stopped a truck but it did not halt. So, Patel allegedly fired at the truck. As a result, the driver lost control and the vehicle rammed into the bike.

"We are investigating the case from all angles and a case will be lodged if anyone is found guilty," said Mishra.
