Taking a dig at chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for ‘a massive corruption in appointments in the state during the BJP regime’ All India Congress Committee (AICC)general secretary Digvijaya Singh demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into all the appointments made in the past two decades including those of his regime. Singh was chief minister of the state from 1993 to 2003.
“The government is being run here in such a way that BJP and Sangh (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) leaders, ministers, officers and employees, middlemen and contractors all are involved in open loot. There was a massive corruption in recruitment in government departments done through Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) and it was the BJP government which set up the board after the year 2004,” said Singh while talking to newspersons on state assembly premises on Friday.
On Chouhan’s announcement to institute an inquiry to look into wrong appointments during his (Digvijaya Singh’s) regime he said he welcomed the announcement. In fact, all the appointments in the past two decades including the appointments in Makhan Lal Chaturvedi University of Journalism should be inquired into.
“I am ready to go to jail if proved guilty,” he added. He said he was going to write to the chief minister to institute a judicial inquiry to look into grant of mining lease during his regime and the present regime. Even they indulged in fixing with private medical college too.
He said Chouhan should not be angry or emotional in his outburst vis-à-vis the charges against him. His brother was involved in sand mining. His relatives were purchasing land in Sehore and Rajgarh districts.
In reply to a question, he asked how could the MPPEB scam be insignificant one as claimed by Chouhan. Uma Bharti of his own party had dubbed the scam as bigger than fodder scam.
On the alleged involvement of Dhanraj Yadav, the officer on special duty (OSD) to governor Ram Naresh Yadav, in MPPEB scam he said anybody whether it was Digvijay Singh should be jailed if he was found involved in the scam.
He said since high court was monitoring the special task force (STF) investigation into MPPEB scam he had written to the chief justice of Madhya Pradesh high court with a prayer to hand over the investigation to CBI to ensure a free and fair investigation.
Criticising the government for failing in providing relief to the farmers affected by hailstorm etc, he said he would stage a dharna for 7 days from July 7 onwards at Guna district collector office if the administration didn’t provide relief to the farmers.
“I would make an appeal to the farmers in the entire state to stage a demonstration at the road nearest to their village.
