While the Ratlam-Fatehabad track is already operational, the newly-laid Fatehabad-Indore track will become operational by August 31. The new train will make commuting between Indore and Ratlam easier.
Last week, the commissioner railway safety (CRS) had carried out an inspection at the newly-laid Fatehabad-Laxmibai Nagar (Indore) broad gauge. A special inspection train was run with high speed to test the newly-laid track and the inspection was successful.
The railway line will reduce traffic and improve connectivity between Indore and Ratlam. The CRS will soon issue a certificate that will allow trains to run. Once the new section becomes operational, travel time between the two cities will be reduced to two-and-a-half hours.
Even though the 35-km section between Fatehabad and Laxmibai Nagar is ready, the 5-km stretch between Laxmibai Nagar and Indore will be completed at a later date due to ongoing construction work at Laxmibai Nagar. At present, the broad gauge line from Fatehbad is linked to Indore via Dewas.
