The Mumbai Indians camp and the Wankhede Stadium crowd made it a memorable birthday for Sachin Tendulkar, as they broke into a chorus of “Happy Birthday to You” for the India legend during the first strategic break of Monday’s game. (MI v RPS LIVE UPDATES | SCORECARD)
The Indian Premier League organisers too joined in and made it special for the fans by asking the champion cricketer to cut a cake on the ground. The cake was placed next to the Mumbai Indians dugout with Matthew Hayden interviewing him.
The batting icon turned 44 on Monday. In the crowd, Tendulkar’s fan no 1, Sudhir Gautam, who paints his body with Tendulkar, No 10, was also present.
Sachin Tendulkar’s birthday has become a part of the Mumbai Indians’ annual event because every time it falls during the Indian Premier League.
Last time the team was in Delhi and the legend had skipped the trip to celebrate the birthday with his friends and family. This time, the schedule has been favourable and the Mumbai Indians were playing at the Wankhede Stadium on the day.
The Mumbai Indians team had also planned to cut a cake in the dressing room after the game.
On the day, ‘Hind Mere Jind’ the first composition from the much-awaited biographical drama, ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’, was also released. The movie will capture the cricket and personal life of the cricketer.
