The Congress Govt in Rajasthan ordered closure of 156 liquor shops located near educational institutions and religious places in parts of the state, an official spokesman said.

It would give relief to people, students, and functionaries of religious places including temples, church, masjid, and gurudwara, the spokesman said.

This would, however, cause a loss of Rs.30 crore to the state exchequer in Indian liquor, and Rs.1.5 crores in foreign liquor trades due to closure, he said.
Earlier after assuming the Chief Ministership, the Congress government effected closure of all liquor shops by 8 pm.
