A student of a private college was allegedly shot dead by some identified persons in the Lalkothi area in Jaipur.

The incident took place last night when 20-year-old Vijay Kumar Punia, hailing from Smarathpura village in Jhunjhunu district was asleep in his hostel, they said.

Police suspect some old enmity as the reason behind the murder.

A man named Ganesh Jat has been held for interrogation and the body has been sent for postmortem, they added.
