Lok Sabha 2019 constituency: BJP, Congress repeat 2014 candidates in Dharwad
In the 2018 assembly polls, BJP won in six of the eight assembly segments in Dharwad. Pralhad Joshi defeated Congress’ Vinay Kulkarni by over 1.13 lakh votes in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Dharwad in Karnataka is a stronghold of the BJP in the southern state. The party has won six consecutive Lok Sabha elections in this seat since 1996. Pralhad Joshi of the BJP is the sitting MP.

This time, the BJP has again fielded Pralhad Joshi from Dharwad. Joshi is a three-time MP from this seat. The Congress has also repeated its 2014 candidate Vinay Kulkarni. The Congress candidate is being supported by its ally Deve Gowda-led Janata Dal (Secular).
Voting for the Lok Sabha election in Karnataka will be held in two phases on April 18 and April 23. The results will be declared on May 23.
