Lok Sabha elections 2019: Local BJP leader killed in Rae Bareli
A local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader of Rae Bareli, Shiva Singh, 35, was killed allegedly in a clash with a group of Dalits while he was approaching his house in Majhgawa village of Harchandpur area on Tuesday afternoon, said police.
He was attacked when he entered into a scuffle with the group after finding construction material littered on the road, which blocked his passage, stated the cops.
Singh, who was said to be a close associate of BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate Dinesh Pratap Singh, was attacked a few hours after the attack on Congress MLA Aditi Singh’s convoy on Lucknow-Rae Bareli highway in Harchandpur area on Tuesday morning.

Dinesh, his brother Awadhesh Singh and their associates were accused of the attack. Locals apprehended that the attack on Shiva Singh was linked with the attack on the MLA.
However, police officials at the DGP headquarters said Shiva Singh’s murder had no link with the attack on the MLA. Singh and his two associates sustained severe injuries when they were attacked with rods and canes.
He was admitted to a local hospital where he succumbed during treatment in the evening, said cops.
An FIR was registered against unidentified people with Harchandpur police station in this connection and further probe was on.
