Addressed to ‘voters of Kanpur’, the unsigned message reads, “Shri Ramlal General Secretary (Organisation) BJP conveyed to me today that I should not contest the ensuing parliamentary election from Kanpur and elsewhere.”
A one-line message reportedly from BJP veteran Murli Manohar Joshi was circulated in social media groups informing that the party has asked the Kanpur MP not to contest the Lok Sabha election. Addressed to ‘voters of Kanpur’, the unsigned message reads, “Shri Ramlal General Secretary (Organisation) BJP conveyed to me today that I should not contest the ensuing parliamentary election from Kanpur and elsewhere.”
While Joshi did not respond to call, a close aide of the veteran said, “Yes, the message is genuine.” The BJP denied several is its veteran, such as LK Advani and Kalraj Mishra, on grounds that they crossed 75 years. The BJP replaced Advani with party chief Amit Shah in Gandhinagar.
