“The voters in the last phase of polling today gave immense support to the gathbandhan and bid adieu to the BJP government. Despite the misuse of power by the ruling party, the people expressed themselves against those who do politics of lies and hatred,” said Akhilesh.
Even as post-polls alliance talks have begun in case such a scenario arose, Akhilesh continued to hit out at the Congress.
He said: “Both the BJP and the Congress sidestepped the basic issues and adopted the politics of allegations and counter-allegations and did divisive politics. In Uttar Pradesh, youth, farmers, minorities had a deep-seated anger against the ruling party. This anger was visible in all the seven phases of polls and the voters showed immense enthusiasm for the gathbandhan.”
