3 killed in train mishap, 4 officials suspended

At least three persons were killed and more than 20 injured when two trains collided near Tundla in Firozabad district on Saturday. Fog was prima facie attributed as the cause of the collision, reports HT Correspondent.

This is the third train accident in Uttar Pradesh over the past two weeks. At 8.15 am, Bhiwani-Kanpur Kalindi Express rammed into the stationary Delhi-Kanpur Shramshakti on the Delhi-Howrah rail route.

Two rear coaches of the Shramshakti Express were smashed. Most of the injured were women and children. The driver of Kalindi Express and the guard of Shramshakti Express also sustained injuries.

Allahabad divisional railway manager S.K. Aggarwal, senior divisional mechanical engineer Vinit Singh and two drivers of Kalandi Express have been suspended pending an inquiry into the incident, said a ministry official.
