Rahul writes to Dr Kafeel, voices concern over law, order in UP
Congress president Rahul Gandhi has written to Dr Kafeel Khan and expressed concern over “the deteriorating law and order situation in the state”, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) spokesman Amarnath Agarwal said.
Agarwal said Gandhi referred to the attempt on the life of Dr Kafeel Khan’s brother Kashif Jameel in Gorakhpur.
Such an attack reflected on the law and order situation and was an issue of concern, Agarwal said, quoting Gandhi’s observations.
Agarwal said Gandhi wanted the administrative laxity with respect to the incident be probed.
The UPCC spokesman also targeted the Yogi government for the bouncing of cheques given to meritorious students. The students were feeling disheartened, he said.
Kashif Jameel, an engineer, had sustained three bullet injuries in his upper arms, chin and neck after he was shot at by unidentified criminals in the Gorakhnath area on Sunday night.
Kafeel is out on bail after serving eight months in jail in connection with BRD Medical College tragedy on August 10-11 last year in which several children died allegedly due to shortage of oxygen.
