The Millionaire Milkshake comes with 24-carat edible gold leaf

Gold biscuits are not edible, we know that. But would you believe us if we told you that there’s a way to drink your gold now? Confused? A new retro-inspired eatery, Milkshake & Co, will serve shakes made of edible gold and Royce chocolate.

Set to launch on October 13 in Lokhandwala, Andheri, the space is styled like an American diner, complete with a neon board and servers dressed in checked skirts. Conceptualised by Tina Bakshi (who has had stints at Lagerbay, Villa 69, Or-G and Gangsta’s Cafe & Bar), the eatery will feature milkshakes in flavours like caramel and sea salt, and glazed donut ,apart from diner-style comfort food like fries, burgers and pancakes.

However, its specialty is the Millionaire Milkshake, aptly named, for its indulgent use of 24-carat edible gold leaf, chocolates like Royce and Godvia and Häagen-Dazs premium ice cream. Priced at Rs 1,500, this shake will be served in gold-coloured custom glasses. Talk about luxury.

“I’ve always wanted to set up an American diner. I have never been a fan of fine dine places,” says Bakshi. She teamed up with ex-Ellipsis chef and college friend Rahul Ramnani (who has spent three months at the iconic Copenhagen institution, Noma) to set up the milkshake bar.

“My head chef at Le Cordon Bleu told me that ‘only when there is gold, caviar and truffles in a dish that it can be worthy of millionaires,” says Ramnani who has had a taste of such indulgences in Dubai.
