MHB police station on Wednesday registered a first information report (FIR) against Ashish KR Dwivedi for allegedly sending Shiv Sena corporator Sheetal Mhatre and party spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi death threats on a social media site.

Mhatre saw the tweet around 4.30am on Wednesday and approached the police, following which an FIR was registered against Dwivedi under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for criminal intimidation.
Hindustan Times has a copy of the FIR. Mhatre, a corporator of ward 7 (Dahisar), confirmed that she received the threat on Twitter.
“Initially, I thought I should ignore the tweet as politicians are trolled on Twitter but the accused, Ashish KR Dwivedi, abused and threatened to kill [me],” she said.
In his post, the accused had written: “Tujhe goli nahi mari to kahna” (will fire a bullet at you), and tagged Mhatre and Chaturvedi.
“I don’t know who the person is and why he is threatening to kill us,” said Chaturvedi. “I could not get the link [to the post]. It could be because the person blocked me after posting the tweet. But Mhatre sent me a screenshot. I was travelling, so Mhatre filed the complaint,” said Chaturvedi.
“We are conducting an inquiry with help from the cyber police,” said inspector Dhananjay Ligade of MHB police station. The crime branch is also conducting a parallel investigation.
