A 21-year-old man hanged himself at his home in Sion Koliwada a few days after he fought with his wife for taunting him for being unemployed and she went away to her parents’ home.

An officer from Antop Hill police station said Krishna Gopal Devendra would return home drunk and fight with his wife, Dhanalakshmi, who is employed in a private firm.

“On Sunday, they fought and she returned to her parents’ home. Two days after the altercation, he hanged himself in the morning,” said a police official, requesting anonymity.

The couple was in a relationship and got married a year ago. “At the time, he was working as a receptionist, but six months ago, he quit his job owing to some as yet unknown reason,” the official said.

The police said he would stay at home the whole day and in the evening go out with his friends to drink.
