27-year-old from Mumbai stabbed to death intervening to stop a fight

The police have arrested the accused and a juvenile has been sent to a children’s remand home.

A 27-year-old man was killed after he intervened in a fight to save his friend in Dharavi on Friday afternoon. The police have arrested the accused and a juvenile has been sent to a children’s remand home.

Arbaaz Sayyed, 19, was with his friends- Yasin Ansari, 27, and a juvenile - near Kavle chawl on Wednesday night when Ahmed approached them.

“Ahmed allegedly confronted Sayyed and picked a fight with him over a two-day old dispute. Ansari, who was standing next to Sayyed intervened to stop the fight,” said Suryakant Bangar, senior inspector at Dharavi police station.

During the fight, Ahmed and his accomplice Wasim stabbed Ansari with a sharp weapon.

The juvenile, who also allegedly intervened, was injured.

The police have registered a case of murder against Ahmed.A cross-case has been registered against Sayyed and the juvenile for assaulting the men. The injured men will be arrested once they are discharged from the hospital, said officials.
