9-year-old boy drowns in water tank outside Thane toilet

The boy, Kunal Bagul, a resident of a slum in Sainath Nagar was spotted by a sanitary worker around 4pm when he went to clean the toilet.

The boy, Kunal Bagul, a resident of a slum in Sainath Nagar was spotted by a sanitary worker around 4pm when he went to clean the toilet.

Bagul had gone to use the toilet. He well into the 10-ft deep open tank while fetching water from there.

“The incident happened in the afternoon. Hence, no one was aware of it. The tank was full with around 7-ft deep water. Soon after he was spotted, he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The case has been registered as an accidental death report,” said S R Bagde, senior inspector, Kalwa police station.
