A week after ex-DD anchor’s death, another coconut tree falls in Mumbai, 2 KG students hurt

Two junior KG students were injured after a coconut tree fell on their class at Joymax School, Ghatkopar (East) in Mumbai. The tree was recently pruned by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Last week, a 57-year-old yoga teacher succumbed to her injuries after a tree fell on her in Chembur, while another tree fall in Parel injured two people — a 75- year-old and a 65 -year-old - injured on Sunday.

The woman was returning home from her yoga classes last week when the tree fell on her, injuring her neck, at Kurla Road near Swastik Park at Chembur (East). Nath was rushed to the hospital by vendors who witnessed the incident.

The woman was in a coma for two days, before she succumbed to her injuries.

All these incidents have put the BMC’s tree pruning exercise under the scanner.

According to data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), it had pruned 60,000 trees in the city ahead of monsoon.
