A 30-year-old aspiring actress was cheated of Rs24,400 by a man, who promised her a lead role opposite Salman Khan in a forthcoming film.
According to the police, the woman was called by one Sahil Parishradha, who claimed to be from Salman Khan Production House, and a relative of Shera (Khan’s bodyguard), offering her a lead role.
An officer from the Gamdevi police station, on condition of anonymity, said, “The woman got the first call in September wherein the accused claimed he holds a high post in Salman Khan’s production house and that he got her number from a mutual friend.”
Parishradha then began contacted the woman on a regular basis and asked her to deposit Rs24,400 in his account as “initial contract fees”.
“After she deposited the amount, the two were in constant touch. But every time the woman asked to meet seniors from the production house, the accused kept rescheduling,” said an officer.
He then asked the woman deposit Rs50,000 in his account claiming as “contract fees”, the police said.
“After Parishradha demanded more money from the woman, she felt something was amiss and kept asking him to arrange for a meeting with the production house’s higher officers and also started looking for Shera’s number,” said an officer.
The police said she managed to get in touch with Shera, and found out Parishradha was cheating her, after which she lodged a cheating complaint at Gamdevi police station.
The police have frozen the bank account in which the accused had asked the woman to deposit the money, while the police are trying to trace the accused with the help of the call data record.
The accused has been booked under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code and the police are trying to trace the accused.
