Applications for health courses in Maharashtra begin, 8,450 register on Day 1

Mumbai city news: According to a schedule released by the DMER, online registrations and filling of application forms will go on till July 10.

Registrations for all health science courses, including medical and dental in Maharashtra began on Wednesday. Officials from the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) confirmed that 8,450 students had registered by the end of day one.

While the process has already begun, parents as well as students have shown their displeasure with the long process as the academic year will only begin after August 1. (HT)

According to a schedule released by the DMER, online registrations and filling of application forms will go on till July 10.

“All students who cleared the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) with qualifying marks is eligible to start the online process. A provisional state merit list will be released on July 12,” said Dr Pravin Shingare, director, DMER. He added that any further information that students might require would be available in the admission brochure released last week. Students can log on to www.dmer.org.in for information.

While the process has already begun, parents as well as students have shown their displeasure with the long process as the academic year will only begin after August 1. “Even though the registration is starting from June 28, the first seat allotment list will only be released after July 27. There’s absolutely no need to drag this process for so long,” said Sudha Shenoy, a parent.

A total of 1.39 lakh students from the state had registered for NEET 2017 and there is still no clarity on how many of these cleared the exam.
