Auto-driver returns bag with ₹2 lakh to passenger
A bouquet was presented to the driver at the Mulund police station
In an exemplary show of honesty, an auto-rickshaw driver returned a bag containing ₹2 lakh to a passenger in Mulund on Saturday morning.

The Mulund police felicitated the rickshaw driver Mahendra Balaram Gaikwad, 50, for his kindness. Ramprasad Sahu took Gaikwad’s auto rickshaw from Bhandup to reach the Modella check post on Saturday morning. Sahu, however, left a bag behind in the auto which contained ₹2 lakh. “When Gaikwad noticed the bag with cash, he first tried to locate the passenger. He later went to the nearby police outpost and handed over the bag to the policemen,” said Shripad Kale, senior police inspector, Mulund police station. “The policemen also recovered some documents from the bag which had Sahu’s contact number. He was called and his bag was returned.”
Subsequently, a bouquet was presented to Gaikwad at the Mulund police station. “Gaikwad is poor and rides a rickshaw in the Bhandup area. He was prompt in returning the bag,” said Kale.
