Congress announced its two candidates for the legislative council elections from graduate constituencies to be held in December. Its sitting Member of Legislative Council (MLC) from Nashik graduate constituency, Sudhir Tambe, has been awarded the candidature once again, while former Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sanjay Khodke will be the party’s candidate from the Amravati graduate constituency, represented by minister of state and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ranjit Patil.
The Congress had convened a meeting of key leaders at its office in Dadar on Wednesday to deliberate over the ensuing civic body and legislative council elections. Though the party was positive about joining hands with the NCP for 11 seats of the council, the partnership for the municipal corporation and district council elections will be based on the feedback they get from the party’s local leadership.
The council elections for 11 seats will be held this December, while 10 municipal corporations, 26 district councils and 214 municipal councils and nagar panchayats will face elections in March next year.
