Dadar murder: Cops to retrieve call details from Mumbai police control room
Umesh Bobale, 40, reportedly stabbed his wife, Tanuja, 36, repeatedly in the chest, stomach and legs, killing her at their Dadar home.
The Shivaji Park police will acquire the call details from the Mumbai police control room where the dentist had called three hours after brutally killing his accountant wife in Dadar on Sunday.
Umesh Bobale, 40, reportedly stabbed his wife, Tanuja, 36, repeatedly in the chest, stomach and legs, killing her at their Dadar home. After sitting near her body for three hours, Bobale called the police to arrest him. “We have written to Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) to furnish the call details that were made to the Mumbai police control room. We are also looking if audio recordings are also available with the control room. These will be important evidences in the case,” said a police officer privy to the investigation.
Tanuja had been living with Bobale’s aunt in Dadar for the past few months and had filed a case of domestic violence against Bobale.
A common friend tried to patch them up on Saturday. “They went for a movie and had dinner with their kid. The duo quarrelled over money on Sunday morning, after which Bobale took the extreme step,” said the officer.
Police are looking for neighbours who may have heard Tanuja’s screams. The post-mortem report stated Tanuja had multiple wounds on her body and she died of hemorrhagic shock due to injuries’.
Bobale was produced before a holiday court on Monday and was granted police custody till December 17. No lawyer appeared for him on Monday. “I want to meet my relatives to arrange for a lawyer,” Bobale said before the court, after which he was granted permission for it. “Tanuja’s family members told us he used to trouble her for money. She had also bought him a car. We have also learned this was his second marriage. We are verifying the details,” said the officer.
