Fire breaks out in a Mumbai local, no injuries reported

According to officials, no passenger suffered any injury.

One of the coaches of a Thane-bound local caught fire at 9.24 pm near Dadar Railway station. The fire was reportedly triggered due to brake-binding, said railway officials. Four fire tenders rushed to the spot and around 30 firemen doused the fire.

According to officials, no passenger suffered any injury.

The fire led to chaos at Dadar Railway station. Some local trains also got delayed due to the situation.

The slow trains were diverted to platform number 4 and the train movement from platform numbers 1 and 2 at Dadar station was stopped.

According to sources, the fire broke out in the lower part of the train below the coach. Alert commuters witnessed the fire and immediately resorted to the Alarm Chain Pulling (ACP) and jumped from the moving train.

The motorman then halted the train as smoke was being emitted out of it, and spread to the parts of the platform.

The fire was confined to the electrical wiring, installations and wooden seats of one boogie of the CSMT- Thane train.

Two hose pipes, four water tankers were rushed to the spot, after which it was brought under control at 10.40 pm.
