Mumbai Providing yet another opportunity for Class 10 students to seek admission in junior college, the state education department has announced an additional first-come, first-served (FCFS) round for students from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The application process for the round will begin from September 4.As per the latest schedule, the education department will allow students who have not registered for the admission process yet, to do so. Students who have recently passed their ATKT exams conducted by the state board and those who missed on the process due to other reasons can apply afresh in this round.Over 70,000 seats in colleges across MMR will be up for grabs in this round. Like the previous FCFS round, there will be three phases - the first one will be for students scoring 60% and above, followed by those scoring 35% and above, and then ATKT students.Students who have still not been allotted any college in the previous rounds or those who have cancelled their admissions will also be eligible to apply in this round. The education department has asked students to be careful while cancelling their previous admissions.“Allocations in the FCFS rounds would be completely on the basis of claiming a seat first. If students cancel their admissions in previous colleges, looking at seat vacancies in the college of their choice but cannot get a seat there, the education department will not be responsible for this,” said a senior official from the education department.HT had previously reported about the plight of several students who had cancelled their admissions at the college level, but the status of their cancellation was not updated online. These students can now request the college to cancel their seats and can reapply in this round. The FCFS round will conclude on September 12.Schedule:September 4-5, 10am to 5pm: Admission cancellation link will be available.
