Mumbai boy drowns in swimming pool, one staff member held

After the death of a 12-year-old boy, who drowned in a swimming pool in Mumbra on Tuesday, the Mumbra police have arrested one of the accused on Thursday.

The incident had occurred on Tuesday and only after the family threatened to bring the victim’s body to Mumbra police station, an FIR was filed on Wednesday. Though the family had registered an FIR against the owners and managing staff of the pool, the police has arrested only one accused so far.
According to K Pasilkar, senior police inspector, Mumbra police station, the accused Huzur Samandar Khan, 60, one of the staff at pool, was arrested on Thursday. “The names of the accused were disclosed in an FIR filed by the family members of the victim, on Wednesday. Following the same, one accused has already been arrested. Further investigation are still going on and accordingly, the other accused will also be taken into the police custody,” said Pasilkar.
The victim, Mohammad Ayaan, drowned in the swimming pool at Future Fitness Centre, Mumbra on Tuesday and Ayaan’s family claimed that the death of the boy took place due to the negligence of the staff at the pool. The FIR has been registered against the owners of the Future Fitness centre and swimming pool – Aziz Farooqi and Quddus Farooqi, Akhtar Sayyad, who runs the centre, and Huzur Samandar Khan, one of the managerial staff at the centre.
