A 24-year-old man allegedly stabbed a 28-year-old man in Malad (East) on Wednesday. The Kurar police have arrested Ahmad Shah for stabbing Hamiuddin Ansari, , who is recovering in hospital, in an act of revenge.

According to the police, Shah had accosted Ansari outside his co-worker Zaheed Shaikh’s house around 10.30am over an earlier issue.

In his complaint to the police, Shaikh said the fight soon escalated for the worse and Shah attacked Ansari with a knife. Ansari sustained multiple grievous injuries, an officer said. Shaikh intervened and rescued Ansari, after which the man was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The police have registered a case of attempt to murder against Ansari and have recorded Shaikh’s statement.

“The incident occurred owing to a petty dispute. The investigation is going on,” said Uday Rajeshirke, senior inspector at Kurar police station.
