NCP leader’s SUV mows down 2-yr-old in Bhayander

The politician — Mohan Patil, NCP Bhayander district chief — was not present in the SUV (MH 04 FU 9119) at the time of the incident and the driver Janta Yadav is still at large, said a Bhayander police official.

The profusely bleeding victim — Afreen Karimulla Khan — was admitted into a private hospital at Mira Road, where she succumbed to her injuries on late Tuesday night after battling for her life for hours, added the official. “We have registered a case under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 (a) (causing death by negligence) of the IPC against Yadav, who is absconding, and seized the SUV,” added the official.
