“The accident took place on WEH when a speeding tempo overtook the car from left side. Chausali who was driving the car lost control over the vehicle as the tempo came right in front of the car after overtaking it, after which the car dashed in to it,” said an officer from Kasturba Marg police station.

Police said that Chausali suffered injuries on his leg while Rajput suffered grievous injuries. “Rajput succumbed to his injuries while he was being treated at the hospital. The car was north bound when the accident took place. We have arrested the driver of the Truck and are waiting for his medical reports to ascertain whether he was under the influence of alcohol or not when he was driving in the wee hours of Friday,” added the officer.
