Come June, passengers travelling from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will have the option to pre-book their meals and get it delivered to different locations within the airport immediately.

“Though there are several food outlets at the airport, passengers often do not find the time to eat after the security check. This food technology app will enable passengers to find food stores along the route from the security check to the boarding gate. Passengers will be able to get their food delivered or collect their orders at special dedicated express pickup counter of the outlets,” a spokesperson from Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (airport operator) said.

According to an airport official, CSMIA will be the first airport in the world to introduce the passenger-centric technology, which enables domestic and international travellers to pre-order their food and have it delivered or picked at the airport.

“The facility of food services being delivered within the terminal is available at different airports in the world, but the facility to order food even when a passenger hasn’t arrived at the airport is not available at any airport,” said an airport official.

Passengers will be able to avail the facility through an app, ‘GrabbnGo,’ after mentioning their flight details.

Passengers would also be able to order food online. “Fliers will be able to avail food from various food outlets by scanning the QR code available across different locations inside the airport without downloading the app, through the outlet’s scan-to- order services,” said an airport official. “
