Three days after the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) demolished Satyam lodge, during a demolition drive against illegal structures, and discovered secret cubicles and escape routes, officers from Vartak Nagar police station arrested four persons, including its owners, on Sunday night.
Those arrested were identified as Kishore and Dilip Bhatia, owners of lodge, and Chanapa Gaunda and Janardan Pujari, to whom the property was leased. All four will be produced in court on Monday.
An officer from Vartak Nagar police station said, “While a case was registered in the evening, the accused were arrested in the night. They will be interrogated about their role and which [TMC] official gave them permission to build so many floors underground.”
