Sheena Bora murder: Saw Indrani Mukerjea, ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna near crime spot, says witness in court

Witness Sandeep Patil claimed he saw Indrani Mukerjea and Sanjeev Khanna on the road while he was driving, on the morning of April 25, 2012.

A gym trainer from Khalapur identified Indrani Mukerjea and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna in court, claiming that he saw them near Gagode Kh village in Pen district the day after Sheena Bora was murdered.

Sandeep Patil was transporting his gym equipment early in the morning of April 25, 2012. He claimed that while driving, he saw three people on the road standing near a car and slowed his vehicle down, getting a clearer view of them. Patil identified Indrani and Khanna in court on Wednesday.

With Patil’s testimony, the prosecution attempted to prove that Indrani, Khanna and Rai had disposed of Bora’s body in bushes in the village at Pen district.

Patil told the court that when he saw the news of Bora’s death in 2015 and the arrest of the trio, he realised that they were the same people whom he had seen in April 2012. He later approached the Khar police who were then investigating the case.

Patil will now be cross-examined by the defence for his statements.

Before Patil, the prosecution examined another witness, Ajit Gogade, from whom the accused allegedly bought plastic cans to store kerosene. Gogade told the court that he remembered having sold the cans to a man who came in a silver-coloured car with a lady. Gogade identified Indrani as the lady who was sitting in the car while the man collected cans from him.
