ST bus runs over 22-yr-old in Kalyan
Victim was returning home on a two-wheeler after seeing off her relative
A 22-year-old woman, who was returning home on a two-wheeler after seeing off her relative at Kalyan, was run over by a speeding state transport (ST) bus on Saturday at 6.30 pm. The deceased was identified as Priyanka Jha, 22, a resident of barrack no.612 at Ulhasnagar. Though Priyanka was rushed to the nearby hospital, she was declared dead on arrival.

A senior officer from Kolshewadi police station said, “We have arrested the ST bus driver. He was later identified as Lahu Belekar, 34, a resident of Mahral village in Thane rural. He was produced in court today [ON Sunday] and was remanded in magisterial custody remand (MCR).”
Belekar was booked under sections 279, 304A and 337 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of Motor Vehicles Act.
