In two separate accidents within an hour on Thursday in Thane, two people were killed, one of whom was a minor girl and the other a senior citizen.

In the first case, a 71-year-old Shankarrao Ramji Shinghne, was heading home on his bike when a speeding dumper hit him at Manpada Bridge at 1.30pm on Thursday. Shinghne lost control over the vehicle and fell off the bike. He suffered head injuries and when rushed to the hospital, doctors declared him brought dead. The dumper driver — Ramanna Babulna Khode,62 — was arrested by Kapurbawdi police.
The second accident took place when Gungun Gosawi , 9, was run over by a goods truck at Agra Road in Bhiwandi while she was crossing the road at 2.20pm on Thursday. The locals who witness the accident rush to the spot and caught hold of the truck driver and got him arrested. The girl was declared brought dead by Bhiwandi civic hospital doctors.The accused — Ramnath Ramdhari Yadav, 64 — is a resident of Bhiwandi.
