Two who robbed Thane wine shop owner of ₹3.5 lakh arrested
While interrogating the accused the police found the names of three more people who were also involved in crime
Five months after a wine shop owner was robbed of ₹3.5 lakh, the Thane crime branch arrested two history-sheeters on Sunday.

While interrogating the accused Shailesh Roy, 25, and Ketan Pawar, 22, the police found the names of three more people who were also involved in crime. Among them, two are already imprisoned in Thane jail for murder and one is absconding. Police have found his name and location and a team has been dispatched to nab him.
The robbery took place on February 25 when the wine shop owner was returning to his home in Dombivli.
“The accused are rickshaw drivers and they planned this robbery to splurge the money,” said a police officer from Thane police.
“On February 25, the wine shop owner was heading home after collecting the whole day collection, which was ₹3.5 lakh. He took the same rickshaw like every day. On the way, another rickshaw approached the rickshaw in which the wine shop owner was travelling and stopped in front of it. The accused snatched the money and fled,” said the officer.
On Sunday, the police got a tip-off about two people who were involved in robbery of ₹3.5 lakh approaching Dombivli.
“We laid a trap and arrested the two. During the investigation, the accused revealed that two of their friends who were also involved in crime were imprisoned in Thane jail while one is on the run,” said the officer.
A team has been formed and dispatch to nab the fifth accused who is suspected to be hiding in Uttar Pradesh.
