A two-year-old boy from Ulhasnagar was attacked and bitten by a stray dog on Thursday.

Kunal Nikam’s face has severe injuries. He was initially taken to Central hospital but as it was unable to treat rabies, he was shifted to Sion hospital and then to KEM Hospital in Parel.

After attacking the boy, the dog attacked other residents in the area. The villagers killed the stray dog.

On Thursday, Nikam was playing outside his house when the stray dog attacked him and bit his face more than five times. “The dog then attacked five other residents and bitt them,” said a police officer from Vitthalwadi police station.

A resident of Ulhasnagar said, “Nikam’s father ran to his rescue and managed to drive away the dog. Later, a group of residents carrying bamboos, stones and other sharp object started beating up the dog, who died after some time.”

A police officer from Vitthalwadi police station said, “We have taken a note of the incident.”
