They were identified as Munsaid Harun Khan, 25 and Joharuddin Chau Khan, 45, who had put up a fake advertisement on the Internet wanting to sell 40 tonne copper.
Officials said this was a trap to lure interested buyers to come for a survey of the metal at Barsana in Mathura and kidnap them. Munsaid drove the victim from Delhi airport to Barsana and later Joharuddin, along with around eight of his accomplices, assaulted him with bamboo and demanded the money.
“The amount was negotiated to Rs 10 lakh and it was sent by his family in October last year. After he was released, the VP Road police station registered a case and two persons were arrested in February,” said a crime branch officer.
