20-year-old driving BMW runs over pedestrian in city

MUMBAI: A pedestrian was killed after a speeding BMW knocked him down at Goregaon (West) on Monday.

The police have detained Siddharth Rajkumar Vijan, 20, who was driving the car. The victim is believed to be in his thirties and the police were trying to establish his identity.

The victim was crossing the road when Vijan, who was allegedly speeding, could not bring his car to a halt and ended up mowing down the man, who suffered fatal head injuries, said the police.

The victim was taken to Siddharth Hospital in Goregaon, but was declared dead on arrival.

At the time of going to press, the police were yet to register a case and arrest Vijan.
