MUMBAI: Offering aspirants a final chance to apply for seats to the first-year junior college (FYJC) course, the third and final round of online admissions will be held from Saturday. The merit list for this round will be announced on Wednesday, said education department officials.

For this round, students can collect the new the login IDs and passwords to submit their fresh applications from their nearest guidance centres between Saturday and Tuesday. Using these, students can fill the online application forms on Monday and Tuesday.

This round is the last of the special free-for-all rounds open for first-time applicants, ATKT students and those wanting to change the seats previously allotted to them.

So far, around 2.02 lakh students have been allotted 2.78 lakh seats in the five rounds and two special rounds.

The final round will be held to fill the nearly 75,000 vacant seats. “Most of the vacant seats are in smaller colleges, which are not popular among students. But a few seats also opened up in coveted colleges in the special rounds,” said BB Chavan, deputy director of education, Mumbai region.

“Students will be able to view the vacant seats in different colleges and categories on the website,” added Chavan.

Students allotted seats in the second special merit list on August 23 will be allowed to apply for better seats in the upcoming round, said officials. They will have to use their old login ID and password to access their form and fill out the fresh application using the new id and password.

Although this is the final round for regular students, a separate round will be conducted for students passing the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) supplementary exams held in July. The round will be held once the exam results are announced.
