MUMBAI: The storm over the film Udta Punjab refuses to die down. The producers filed an FIR with the cyber police station after the film was allegedly leaked online on Wednesday.

Additional commissioner of police (Crime) KMM Prasanna confirmed the news. Sources said the complaint was filed under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and under various sections of the Copyright Act.

The FIR was filed by Satyajeet Mukharjee from Phantom Films Pvt Ltd.

The case has been filed against unknown accused and the FIR states the movie was leaked on a popular website.

The Bombay high court on Monday cleared the film for scheduled release on June 17, with just one cut and some changes in the disclaimer.

A division bench of justice SC Dharmadhikari and justice Shalini Phansalkar-Joshi struck down the June 6 order of the Central Board of Film Certification( CBFC) and allowed the producers of the film to retain all but one scene. The court also allowed all the abusive content in the film, while observing that that it was integral part to its central theme and could not be isolated.

The CBFC’s June 6 order had granted the Shahid Kapoor-Alia Bhatt-starrer an “A” certificate (suitable only for adult viewers), but had also suggested several cuts.
